• ONEFORSEVEN King Harold

Stoke’s Dave Harold booked his place at the ONEFORSEVEN WALES 2009 Final Tables after winning the second Satellite Event in Chester, smashing the world record in the process.

Harold will join the likes of world champions John Higgins, Mark Williams, Ken Doherty and Graeme Dott at the finals in Cardiff on December 21st, after scoring a massive 688 points in the final group.

ONEFORSEVEN is the new tournament format where each player takes on seven opponents over one frame for a maximum of 21-minutes (147 minutes in total), with the highest accumulative scores being counted.

‘Big Dave’ as he is known amongst his fellow professional’s was unstoppable and after four rounds had amassed an amazing 491 points at an average of 123 points per frame.

In those opening frames Sam Baird, Stuart Bingham, Ian McCulloch and Alex Taubman could only manage ten points between them as Harold carved out an almost unassailable lead.

His impressive run was halted in round five as Fergal O’Brien beat him 96-45, helping the Irishman finish in fourth place.

Sam Baird was impressive in scoring 550, a total that on any other day might have earned him a place at the December finals.

World number 21, Stuart Bingham recovered from a disastrous start to finish strongly and claim third place overall.

Ladies world champion, Reanne Evans qualified for the final group and despite finishing in seventh place scored 341, a score that included wins over O’Brien and McCulloch.
