• Hard To Keep Up With Jones

North Wales’ Neal Jones became the latest ONEFORSEVEN winner as he won the level 2 satellite event at The Q Bar in Chester and progress through to Sunday’s Level 1 event.

Jones, a 33-year-old former professional reached the final of the second PIOS event and is in contention for promotion back to the professional ranks at the end of the year,

Consistency was the key for Jones as he averaged over 87 points per frame and pushed the ONEFORSEVEN scoring record past 600 for the first time, setting a new target of 611.

Fellow PIOS player, Alex Taubman, finished in second place with Gareth Edwards in third.

Jones held a 98-point lead going into the final round, and any hopes of a late surge by Taubman or Edwards were dashed as he piled on the points scoring 113 against Richard Remelie (4th).

Lee Gorton moved up from last place with just two rounds remaining to finish in fifth place after scoring 81-points in each of the last two rounds.

Chester’s Brian Morgan was in third place after three rounds but eventually slipped into last place but beat his personal best by 43 points.

The Q Bar will attract some of the best snooker players in the world for Sunday’s Level 1 satellite event.

Jones will join the likes of Judd Trump, Jamie Cope, and Dave Harold who are all looking to book their place at the ONEFORSEVEN WALES 2009 final day in Cardiff on December 21.
