European Team Championship 2009 - Introduction
Welcome to our live coverage of the 2009 European Team Championships in the wonderful city of St. Petersburg, in Northern Russia.

The EBSA are also staging the qualifying event for the Sangsom 6-reds. This event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, in July, was a huge success last year. Of Europe's 4 quaifiers last year, France's Gregory Kopec notched up a remarkable 5-1 win over Jimmy White, while Itaro Santos, representing Germany, won through his group to reach the last 32.
The venue for this year's event is the Leader Club, 154 Engelsa Avenue, St. Petersburg. As well as 20 tables for the tournaments, there are multiple facilities at the venue, including bars, eateries, billiard, bowling, free wi-fi access.
Spectators are welcome at all the events and we look forward to meeting many of the enthuastic Russian fans, alongside the hundreds of people travelling from across Europe to attend.
The Official event hotel is the Karelia Hotel, 27/2, Marshala Tukhachevskogo Avenue, St. Petersburg. The hotel features restaurants, bars, wi-fi access, a hair salon, and other facilities.
If you're planning to come to the event you will need a Visa and an invitation letter can be obtained from the FBSR (Russian Federation).
Weatherwise, the local knowledge tells me it's likely to be "changeable"! It is likely to be chilly and probably quite windy. So bring the thermals!
