• Griffiths Launches Snooker Lab

A revolutionary new method for snooker coaching has been launched on the world stage as part of a suite of new coaching products and services.

World class coach Terry Griffiths OBE and his son, Wayne are behind this pioneering software aimed at bringing the sport’s training and development into the 21st Century.

The innovative ‘Snooker Lab’ product has been in development for the past three years, and provides the world’s first remote coaching software dedicated to snooker.

It means that international players and coaches can now consult world class coaches online about any technical issues.

Full web-based video lessons can be provided with on-screen and audio analysis.

Videos can be downloaded and analysed before being sent back to pupils with detailed commentary and suggestions for improvement.

Technical aspects that often cannot be seen with the naked eye can be picked up using the software, meaning the very highest level of coaching can be delivered – either remotely or in a traditional one to one lesson.

A player’s development and technical improvement can be also tracked over time, meaning that players can evaluate how their techniques may have changed during the course of their career. This video history will prove invaluable to any player or coach seeking the solution to a new technical problem.

The software will also allow in-depth, side by side analysis and comparisons with the world’s leading players including Stephen Hendry, Marco Fu, Ali Carter, Stephen Maguire, Ken Doherty and Steve Davis.

Snooker Lab is now available as part of www.terrygriffithssnooker.com  - a new website launched in April, 2010.

As well as remote coaching software, you can also get access to one to one coaching, residential coaching options, training to be a snooker coach, summer seminars with Terry Griffiths, online masterclass videos, video conferences with Terry to discuss technical or snooker psychology issues and much more.

The aim is to bring snooker coaching up to speed with other leading sports and develop a comprehensive list of effective tools and techniques to help players of the future.

Terry Griffiths, who already coaches many of the world’s leading players including Stephen Maguire, Ali Carter and Marco Fu at his Academy in South Wales, said:

“In all my years as a player and a coach I have never been so excited by a coaching product.

    “Through using Snooker Lab in trials at my Academy in Llanelli I have become convinced that it is a product that will change how snooker’s technique is recorded, analysed, taught and understood in the future;

“This will be the first software of its kind in the world fully dedicated to snooker and I expect it to revolutionise the way coaching is delivered both locally and internationally.”

‘Snooker Lab’ is part of an ambitious and detailed training programme, aimed at reinventing the way snooker coaching is developed and delivered as a package.

Terry and his son Wayne will use Snooker Lab and terrygriffithssnooker.com to spearhead the launch of a chain of international Terry Griffiths Snooker Academies, aimed at promoting the sport worldwide and training local coaches to the highest level.

Academy coaches will be offered mentoring by Terry and other senior coaches within the programme.

Academies will also be used a talent search for the next crop of gifted young players and serious interest has already been shown by new snooker nations like Romania and Russia.

Wayne Griffiths said: “We intend to work with the Terry Griffiths Academies, and in particular the senior coaches locally, to develop a full range of training programs. It is very important that every effort is made to ensure the game is promoted locally in an effort to increase participation rates. The intention is that this improved interest would provide local partners with the opportunity to build a profit making business, or use the excess funds to plough back into snooker development on a local basis.”

Terry added: “I am very much looking forward to working with Wayne in developing Terry Griffiths’ Snooker Lab and the Terry Griffiths Academies.   “With the explosion of interest in snooker outside the U.K. and across the globe, the need for structured development programmes delivered by highly skilled local coaches has become more and more important.
