A Tribute to Steve Prest – 1966 - 2009
Global-Snooker is saddened to have heard over the weekend of the death of Steve Prest, aged 43.

I had the privilege of working with Steve on a number of occasions. As a world snooker coach in 2000, and more recently in conjunction with a pilot Paul Hunter Foundation project in 2008.
He was a dedicated and hard-working guy who was passionate about snooker and always willing to get his hands dirty and get involved.
Steve was a popular figure on the professional circuit.
As a player, he turned professional in 1991 and and played over 170 matches.
From the mid-90s though he began to focus his attentions on coaching the game and became one of the first WPBSA recognised coaches.
He passed on his knowledge and experience all around the world and worked with some of the biggest names in the game.

In 2005, he was ‘on Shaun Murphy’s bag’ as he became world champion, and more recently worked with Neil Robertson and Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Snooker Development on a local scale was also high on Steve’s priority and has encouraged thousands of young people to play the game in Harrogate and Leeds.
He leaves behind a daughter, and our thoughts are with her and the rest of his family at this time.
Steve will be sadly missed.
