• Holt Cues Up for ONEFORSEVEN

Nottingham’s world number 24, Michael Holt is the latest big name to sign up to the first ONEFORSEVEN Satellite event in Chester this weekend.

Holt up to number 22 on the latest provisional rankings will be joined on the starting grid by former Welsh Open finalist, Andrew Higginson, Judd Trump and Potteries duo, Jamie ‘The Shotgun’ Cope, and Dave Harold.

With a nickname like Jamie’s, you would think that he might be suited to the new ONEFORSEVEN format, but you never know.

Dave Harold, one of the most experienced players on tour, which he tells us is a polite way of referring to one of the oldest on tour is as excited by the ONEFORSEVEN innovation as his younger counterparts.

“I am not renowned for the speed of my play but I can’t wait to try it” said Dave.

Neil Tomkins, a former professional player who is behind the idea, confirms that it is not all about speed.  "The key to ONEFORSEVEN success is heavy scoring".

Andrew Strauss opens the batting for England in a Test Match series, though he doesnt play a big role in their Twenty20 exploits.  ONEFORSEVEN is likely to be the equivalent and will discover its own best players.

There is a time element but with the average frame at this year’s world championship taking a fraction under eighteen and a half minutes, ONEFORSEVEN’s 21-minute limit shouldn’t cause too many problems for the top players.

With a place at the lucrative end of year bash at the ONEFORSEVEN final tables in Wales’ capital city Cardiff just before Christmas at stake, all sixteen players will hope they have their scoring boots on at the Q Bar on Sunday.
