• Legends Warm Up Crucible Atmosphere

Snooker’s Legends will once again take to the sport’s most famous stage with the stars of 8os snooker, competing at The Crucible just one week ahead of this year’s Betfred.com world championship in Sheffield.

Cliff Thorburn, Dennis Taylor and John Parrott will enjoy a return to the scene of their greatest triumph, lifting the world championship trophy aloft in 1980, 1985 and 1991 respectively.

For the star of the show, however, there will likely be bitter sweet memories of the playing at the famous theatre which this year will see it stage the blue ribbon event for a 35th time.

Jimmy White lost all six finals in which he competed, and remains winless at the home of snooker.

The Whirlwind, though, has lost none of his competitive edge and this year has moved back up the world rankings and inside the top 50 as he approaches the same landmark in years.

Kirk Stevens, famed for making the first 147 maximum break at Wembley and wearing a white suit, will also make a rare appearance as he makes the trip from his native Canada to dust down his cue and return to the Crucible for the first time in 23 years.

John Virgo will be on hand to MC proceedings while top official, Michaela Tabb will be on hand to see that there is no foul play.

White, the ‘People’s Champion’ will also lead a tribute to originator of that title, Alex Higgins who won the world title in ’72 and ‘82.

“The Hurricane” sadly passed away last year after making one final appearance at the first Legends Tour event in 2010.

The entire event will be streamed LIVE via the internet and can be pre-ordered for just £1.47.  For more information go to www.snookerlegends.co.uk.
