• Henry The Eight in Belgium

Chris Henry set up a first round clash with Jimmy White after winning his two qualifying matches without losing a frame at the ISCA Bruges Open.

Henry, a former professional has been living in Belgium for ten years and is making the most of having the world’s best players in his hometown.

“It is great to have world champions and top 16 players competing in Belgium once again” said Henry.

“I think the new Players Tour Championship events are a great idea and will definitely help to grow the sport on the continent and hopefully we will see players from mainland Europe challenging the UK guys in the same way that Ding (Junhui) and Neil (Robertson) are”.

Henry is probably better known for his exploits off the table than on the green baize itself.

For a number of years he was Stephen Hendry’s coach and has also developed the Acuerate cue technology, which alleges to give players increased accuracy.

He beat Jan Goosens and Michal Zielinski at the Boudewijn Seapark and will now play The Whirlwind on Saturday morning.
