• Old And New Into Last Four

The old and new are represented in the last four with past champion, Graeme Dott and first-timer, Neil Robertson winning their quarter final at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

2006 champion, Graeme Dott squeezed past Mark Allen in a final frame shoot-out and will now face either Ronnie O’Sullivan or Mark Selby for a place in the final on Sunday and Monday.

The Scot recovered from 12-10 down to win three frames in a row to win a match of ‘three thirds’

Allen took the opening four frames of the match, only to be pegged back to 5-3 at the end of the first session.

The second session saw Dott reverse the scoreline to level at 8 frames a piece overnight.

On the resumption, it was Dott who took the first initiative to lead by 10-8.  Back came Antrim’s Allen to win four frames in a row and move to within one frame of victory.

It wasn’t to be though as Dott first found a century break to reduce the deficit to just one, and three solid breaks in the next two frames and he was home and dry.

In the top half, Australia’s Neil Robertson played the villain as he finally saw off the challenge of crowd favourite, Steve Davis by thirteen-frames-to-five.

The Nugget made a century in winning the last two frames the previous evening to take the match into a third session.  He won the first of the morning, but the inevitable was not delayed any longer as Robertson cruised to the last four for the second year running.

In the semi-final, he will face either of the last two runners-up Allister Carter or Shaun Murphy.

They are locked together at 8-8 with all to play for in the final session this evening.
