    The 17-days at the Crucible Theatre in April and May are always a high point in the snooker calendar.  Ronnie went out in the second round, Hendry made another Max, and Higgins surived two deciders on his way to a third world title.

    Partypoker.com Premier League (Matchroom Sport)
    The Rocket walked away with title number nine, when he beat Mark Selby in the final.  The only event using a league format and the unique element of the shot-clock has ensured that 23rd year of Matchroom's league was another successful one.

    The Paul Hunter Classic - (Dragonstars Germany)
    The fifth staging of the event which has become popular with players and supporters was won by Shaun Murphy.

    The Grand Final in Portimao - (World Series of Snooker)
    The newest event on the calendar, two times world champion and his manager, Pat Mooney announced the event in the summer of 2008.  In its first year, qualifying events were held in Jersey, Warsaw, Moscow and Berlin before the Grand Final became the first major televised tournament to be held in Portugal.  Shaun Murphy walked away with the Euros as he became the first World Sereis of Snooker Champion.

    European Team Championship in St.Petersburg - EBSA
    The Russian Billiard Federation played host to the European Team championship in a magnificent venue, with over 100 tables.

    Sangsom 6-Reds International in Bangkok - Billiards and Snooker Association Thailand
    The first major 6-red event was the brainchild of Sindhu Pulsirivong, President of BSAT.

    World Championship in Austria - IBSF
    Three tournaments in one as Men, Women and Masters (over 40s) competed from all over the world.  Thailand, England and New Zealand walked away with the honours from this festival of international snooker.
