     Match Notes:

Frame 25. The tension ratchets up another notch as we're going to have a re-rack! Well would you believe this! It's a second re-rack! It's victory to Higgins. With the true mark of a champion he's constructed a match-winning 75 break to book his place in the semi finals.

Frame 24. It's going to be a final frame thriller. Higgins got in and made 41 and then immediately got another chance, and left Selby needing a snooker with 4 reds still on.

Frame 23. Selby gets his nose in front but not before withstanding Higgins' quest for snookers on the last red.

Frame 22. It's level again. Selby missed and John Higgins coolly stepped in with 54.

Frame 21. That frame lasted 38 tension packed minutes and eventually Selby sealed it taking blue and pink.

Frame 20. Higgins has levelled the match. This is going to be gripping late night drama at the Crucible.

Frame 19. John Higgins closes the gap again to one frame. He's played a rock solid frame there and sealed it in two scoring visits.

Frame 18. Selby dominates another frame and there doesn't seem to be much Higgins can do about it at the moment. That is Selby's fifth century of the match. He really is a scoring machine at the moment.

Frame 17. Mark Selby takes the first of the night. He missed a black along the rail at his first scoring visit but made no mistake the second time.

Frame 16. A dramatic final frame of the morning is eventually sealed by Higgins taking the pink and black. But he should have won it a long time before the 36 minutes it eventually took. Higgins had opened with 60 before Selby replied with 55 and then it was a battle on the colours.

Frame 15. Selby extends his winning streak to four frames, with that run of 65.

Frame 14. Each player seems to be winning batches of frames in this match and it's Selby's turn again now to win three in a row and bring the scores level again. And that's the fifth century of the match and Selby's fourth.

Frame 13. Selby returns refreshed from the interval and wins the frame easily and is now only one behind.

Frame 12. Selby fires in a brilliant 77 break and closes to 7-5 down at the interval.

Frame 11. A delay before the start of the frame as referee Colin Humphries is feeling unwell and Alan Chamberlain has taken over. Mark Selby laughingly covers his face with a towel and we all hope that Swine Flu hasn't hit the Crucible! There's certainly nothing the matter with John Higgins, he's flying this morning. That 83 break takes him three clear.

Frame 10. John Higgins takes another frame, so he's opened a two frame gap now. A couple of scoring visits were needed and he rounded off the frame with 52.

Frame 9. Good morning to a bright and sunny Sheffield. It's the second session of this high class battle. John Higgins gets the better of the early sparring and take his chance with a frame-winning clearance.

Frame 8. Selby steps in again to win the last of the session, it's 4-4 and that's a fair scoreline considering the brilliant snooker both players have produced at times.

Frame 7. Higgins has turned this session on its head now. Having sat in his chair for the first three frames he's now taken control and won the next four, this time with an fabulous 141 total clearance. If it hadn't been for Hendry's maximum that would have been the best break so far.

Frame 6. John Higgins levels the match and is looking well in the groove now, after withstanding that early barrage from Selby.

Frame 5. John Higgins steps in with an excellent 65 clearance after Selby missed the black off its spot on 57

Frame 4. Higgins stems the tide, making 57 to get himself on the scoreboard at the interval.

Frame 3. This is absolutely extraordinary snooker from Selby. It's a third ton on the spin and Higgins has only scored 8 points in the match. Only five times before have there been 3 centuries on the spin at the Crucible, and never in the first three frames of a match.

Frame 2. Well you can't start better in a match than to make back to back centuries and that's exactly what Mark Selby has done.

Frame 1. Good afternoon and welcome to a repeat of the 2007 final. Well you can't start better than that. Mark Selby rattles in a century to open the match in style.
