Snooker goes the extra mile for Sport Relief
Dominic Dale shattered Mark Selby's previous time in running a mile round a snooker table in aid of Sport Relief.
Two years ago Mark Selby was the first snooker player to run the Sport Relief Mile, doing 113 laps round a snooker table in eighteen minutes thirteen seconds.
Today Dominic Dale jogged up to the starting tape and obliterated Selby's record, completing his 113 laps in a remarkable twelve minutes 47 seconds.

All the more remarkable because Dale managed to keep up banter all the way round and ripostes to the heckling of his fellow snooker stars!

Normally 113 is no a score a snooker player would want to post on the scoreboard as it could well mean they'd missed the 15th black on a maximum attempt, but when it's all for charity it's the total lap count they need to add up to the magic mile.
Before his run Dominic said “I’m all ‘cued’ up for my challenge and want to encourage everyone in Wales to get involved and support Sport Relief by entering the Cardiff Mile on 21 March at www.sportrelief.com.”
After his run Dale sank to the floor to get his breath back while his fellow players, including John Higgins and Stephen Hendry, donned their Sport Relief T-Shirts to support the cause.

Dale takes to the table for real later today when he takes on Stephen Maguire in his Last 32 match.
Ronnie O'Sullivan gets his Welsh Open challenge under way today, facing fellow Essex star and former practice partner Stuart Bingham.
