• No withdrawal symptom for the Davis Family

Two members of Steve Davis' family have received walkovers in the first Players Tour championship at Sheffield

Steve Davis may be missing the first event, while he takes a well earned holiday, but son Greg and nephew Marc (pictured) lined up in the Amateur qualifying round, at the EIS in Sheffield today.

By bizarre coincidence both have received walkovers.

Greg was drawn against David Gray who didn't turn up to play and so Davis Junior goes through to face Martin Gould in the first round proper.

Nephew Marc, from Scotland, was due to play Denmark's Eljer Hame. He withdrew from the event and Marc now enters the first round where he'll face Ireland's Fergal O'Brien.

Draws like this just serve to reinforce the great chances in the PTC and EPTC events for the up and coming and aspiring amateur players to rub shoulders with, and play against, their professional heroes.
