• Whirlwinds and Tornadoes Blow in Shanghai Masters

Jimmy White and Tony Drago both won their second round matches in the Shanghai Masters, but in contrasting styles.

Jimmy White booked a third round match against Andrew Higginson, after demolishing Bjorn Haneveer 5-0.

White took the opener on the pink after an early 35 gave him the advantage.

When Haneveer broke down on 44 in the second, White produced a vintage 73 clearance and he went on to pinch the third on the black, after Haneveer had opened with 52.

A run of 62 gave White a 4-0 lead and he rounded off an good morning's work with 47 to complete the Whitewash.

Jimmy then settled down to cheer on his good friend and practice partner Tony Drago.

Having had a walkover yesterday, Drago faced Ireland's David Morris in his first match back on the tour.

It didn't look too good for Maltese hopes when Morris opened up a 4-1 lead, helped by runs of 47, 54 and 53.

But don't blink or you'll miss a Tornado blowing through the venue.

Five minutes later Drago had rattled in 69, then a pedestrian 8 minute frame saw him compile 86 and then a 4 minute blitz, brought Drago level as he fired in 74.

The decider went scrappy and it was a tortuous 32 minuts before Drago cleared blue to black to clinch victory and punched the air in delight.

Morris wasn't the only seed to lose, as Walsall's Mark Joyce went down 5-2 to Joe Jogia, and Liu Song crashed out 5-0 at the hands of Simon Bedford.

Ireland's Joe Delaney withstood a comback by Daniel Wells, from 4-1 to 4-3, before a run of 69 saw him over the line.

Rod Lawler won a titanic struggle against Xiao Guodong 5-4. Lawler led 4-1, with a top run of 108, but the Liverpudlian had to sit out a Guodong fightback, which saw the Chinese teenager run in 102 to come back to 4-4. A mid frame break of 43 was enough for Lawler to close out a 41 minute decider.
