Drago off to a flyer in Paul Hunter English Open
Tony Drago opened his campaign in the 2009 Paul Hunter English Open in Leeds today in style.
Tony Drago, who recently won the European Play offs to regain his Main Tour place, started his bid to become the English Open Champion with a 3-0 drubbing of Kuldesh Johal.
Drago smacked in a run of 101 in a quick fire victory.
Defending champion Matthew Couch notched a routine 3-0 win over Dronfield junior Oliver Brown.
Jeff Cundy fired in 84 and 109 as he beat Anthony green in his first Group 6 match.
The event is being played initially in round robin groups, before progressing to knock out and ultimately the final on Sunday.
Ryan Day had to withdraw and was replaced in his group by Andrew higginson, who obliged with a 3-0 win over Marc Harman, rattling in breaks of 85 and 55.
Michael Holt was pushed all the way by Liverpool's John Robets, but emerged a 3-2 victor, helped by a 99 break.
The World Ladies Champion Reanne Evans fell to a 3-1 reverse against Gateshead's John Astley, who made 83 to help his cause.
Dave Harold, Stuart Bingham and Robert Milkins all notched routine 3-0 victories in their opening matches.
