George gets the Boys on the Baize
Ten year old George Marriott joined Rob Walker to introduce the players into the arena at the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship.
The gutsy ten year old, from Chesterfield, is suffering from a brain tumour, but that hasn't deterred George from raising thousands of pounds for the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.
Already he has taken part in a 3K fun run, and he persuaded another 100 people to join in. Together they raised £4,500.
George and his friends all wore their orange football kit for the race and he crossed the finishing line in a time of 24 minutes and 42 seconds.
Proud mum Rachel said "It was fantastic. He managed to run all the way which was really good and really surprised us.
"He was absolutely shattered the next day but there was no way he was going to walk it he said."
That figure was doubled when George helped orangise a charity auction.
George, who attends Deer Park Primary School, is currently receiving three steroid injections daily, as Doctors grapple with his condition.
Nigel Bond gave George a guided tour of the Crucible, included a chance to sit in the player's chair in the arena.
But the highlight came when George was kitted out in the waistcoat that Rob Walker had made, entirely from baize, with all the snooker colours featured.
Rob donned the 'green jacket' and together they made the introductions.
At the end of this year's World Championship the jacket, which has been autographed by many of the World's top players, and the waistcoat, will be auctioned off to raise more funds for the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.
