Bingham wins the Paul Hunter English Open
Stuart Bingham won the 2009 Paul Hunter English Open with a crushing 6-0 win over local favourite Simon Bedford at the Northern Snooker Centre.
World Number 21 Stuart Bingham, from Basildon, was the English Amateur Champion back in 1996 and now he's added the English Open title to his long list of honours.
The final proved to be one way traffic as Bingham fired in breaks of 124, 55, 62, 95 to open a 4-0 lead.
Bedford had a few chances but couldn't convert them as Bingham added the next two frames for victory.
Bingham ended the excellent run of Robbie Williams in the semi finals. Liverpool's Williams came through the Group Stage as number one seed for the knock out stage, having won all his matches and lost fewer frames than the other players.
He then knocked out new season pro Ben Woollaston in the last the last 32, in the deciding frame.
Working his way through the Professional Ranking List, Williams accounted for Rod Lawler in the Last 16, and Mark Joyce in the quarter finals, before bowing out to Bedford in the semi finals.
Bingham came through the groups seeded number two and then beat Peter Fisher in the Last 32, with a couple of centuries.
He knocked out the home club hope, Peter Lines 5-1, in the Last 16 and beat Michael Holt 5-2 in an entertaining quarter final, with runs of 65, 101, 72 and 59.
Former World Under 21 champion Gary Wilson was ousted by Bingham 5-3 in their semi final.
