     Match Notes:

Frame 24. Mark Allen is through, a clenched fist of delight as the match winning red entered a pocket. He goes on to wrap it up in style with a century.

Frame 23. The match looked like it had slipped from Day's grasp when Allen had an outrageous fluke on the last red, out of a snooker. But day got back in to clear the colours, but he still needs the last two frames, while Allen needs one.

Frame 22. Mark Allen looks cool still as he goes 12-10 ahead. One more frame needed to be in his first Crucible semi-final. That break of 65 did the damage but an amazing final red clinched it.

Frame 21. That 42 clearance might be one of the most important breaks Ryan Day ever makes. He's closed to 11-10 behind now and it's extremely tense.

Frame 20. Allen wins the frame to lead 11-9 at the interval but he made life difficult for himself when he lost position on 59 and had to stave off a Day come back.

Frame 19. Ryan wins the frame despite snookering himself on all colours when he was well set on 45. It took him 4 attempts to extract himself and hit a baulk colour but in the end it was academic as he carved out another opening to win the frame.

Frame 18. There's a fabulous century from Mark Allen this time and that's equalled the Crucible record of 68.

Frame 17. It's a great start for Ryan Day and that's just what he needed to keep in touch, a brilliant century to start the afternoon's play.

Frame 16. After a thoroughly entertaining evening the score is 9-7 to Allen with the session shared 4-4.

Frame 15. Allen regains the lead and stops the Day charge, clearing up to sneak the frame on the black after Day had opened with 54.

Frame 14. Mark Allen smashes in 119 at high speed and that's already the 64th century of the event. We're on course to obliterate the record which stands at 68, made in 2002 and 2007.

Frame 13. Mark Allen misses his first black off the spot and Day capitalises with a run of 70.

Frame 12. Day has stormed back into this match with his third frame success on the spin. That's levelled the match at the interval, with that 35 clearance.

Frame 11. Another frame to Day but his nice break of 68 comes to a premature end when he inadvertently pots a red when trying to knock it out from the cushion.

Frame 10. The break building continues, but this time it's Day who rattles in 84 to take the frame.

Frame 9. Allen makes 69 to come from 50 behind to take the frame and open a 3 frame gap.

Frame 8. Day opened with 31 but missed and that let Allen in to smack in 80 and he takes a 5-3 lead at the end of the session.

Frame 7. They rattle through another frame in double quick time. Allen fires in 51 to take the lead.

Frame 6. Mark Allen flies through that frame with a century. These two have played two frames in the time that Hendry and Murphy have taken to play one.

Frame 5. Day smacks in 71 to move ahead. Both players seem to be enjoying the match and are having a chat and laugh in their chairs between frames.

Frame 4. Day levels the score at the interval with a swashbuckling 66.

Frame 3. Allen takes the third on the colours after Day couldn't get the snooker he needed.

Frame 2. It didn't take Mark Allen long to leve the score, he's whistled in 61 there in the blink of an eye.

Frame 1. First blood to Ryan Day as both players look to settle down quickly in the first session of the mouth-watering quarter final clash.
