Jack gives himself a Birthday Present
Jack Lisowski, the new Paul Hunter Scholar, celebrated his birthday in style by booking a place in the final of PIOS Event 1.
The final of PIOS Event 1 will be contested by, arguably, England's best two up and coming junior players, Liam Highfield and Jack Lisowski.
Lisowski, celebrating his eighteenth birthday today, beat Germany's Patrick Einsle in their semi final, 5-0, with runs of 66 and 65.
It was the best ever PIOS run for Einsle, who had one season on the Main Tour a couple of seasons ago.
The Sheffield based Paul Hunter Scholar ended the run of John Astley, from Gateshead, in the quarter finals.
Astley, who enjoyed his best run in a PIOS event, opened with 63, but efforts of 65 and 66 took Lisowski 4-1 ahead. From 3-3 Lisowski made 60 and then doinated the eighth for victory.
Highfield, who gained his claim to fame with a 147 in an English Junior event in 2008, beat Newcastle's Gary Wilson 5-3, in a closely contested semi final. Highfield made breaks of 49 and 60, while Wilson made 56.
Earlier Highfield had beaten Liverpudlian Robbie Williams 5-3 in a quarter final that lasted three hours 20 minutes.
Interspered between long bouts of safety, Highfield made 74, 63 and 40 and Williams, who has been tipped by Dave Harold as "one to watch", made 49 and 73.
