2009 Celtic Challenge
Ireland celebrate victory in the 2009 Celtic Challege
The history of the Celtic Challenge goes back to 1998 when Ireland and Wales first slugged it out at the Terry Griffiths Matchroom in Llanelli. On that occasion the Irish senior team won the match in the final frame.
The event has been running successfully ever since, alternatively hosted by Ireland and Wales.
Previously comprising Men's, Masters', Ladies' and Juniors teams, this year's event breaks new ground by giving over the whole event to the two key Junior age groups.
The format is the best of 3 frames. Every frame win scores a point for the team.
At the end of what promises to be an exciting and tense day's play, there will be awards for the winning team in each age group and the overall 2009 Celtic Challenge winners, when the scores have been totalled up.
