| Notes Frame 9. Burnett rattles in a nice 76 and at 6-3 behind still has a chance when they return on Thursday evening. Frame 8. Burnett digs deep in that frame and he's stolen it but still trails 6-2. The players are enjoying a chat and joke between frames. Frame 7. Maguire at last learns to count to a hundred and gets his first ton on the board. Frame 6. Maguire puts another frame on the board, it's pretty much one way traffic in this match. Frame 5. Now Maguire has ignited. A fabulous 96 there, shame he hasn't notched a century yet, That's twice he's missed in the 90s. And that time it was all reds and black before he missed a tricky 13th red to the centre. Frame 4. Maguire eases to a 3-1 interval lead. He's not really sparkled yet but is getting the job done. Frame 3. Maguire compiles a 50 break and then clears to pink to go 2-1 up. Frame 2. Burnett levels the match, after opening with a 58 break. Frame 1. Maguire opens in style with a 98 break before missing the last red. |
Notes Frame 15. Maguire wraps up a 10-5 win with his third century of the match and now he will face Mark King in round two. Frame 14. Burnett keeps a tenuous hold on the match. Only a run of 48 but Maguire needed snookers on the colours and couldn't get one. Frame 13. Maguire stands within one frame of round two but he'll have to wait until after the interval to complete victory. Frame 12. Burnett has clawed by from more than 40 behind in that frame. He made 37 but failed when trying to clip the pink off the cushion, but now he's cut a tricky black back and holds on in the match at 8-4 down. Frame 11. Maguire strolls through another frame, just two more needed now. Burnett didn't get the start he needed and it's hard to see him comiing back from this deficit. Frame 10. Maguire starts in style with a century, after the audience have a good laugh when Maguire asks ref Pete Williamson to move a BBC camera out of his way. Hello again, welcome back to the final session of this entertaining match. Winning the last two frames last night gives Burnett a bit of a chance tonight if he can get off to a good start. |
