    Frame 9. That wasn't the prettiest session of session, but flu-ridden Murphy has battled his way through to lead 5-4 and can now collapse back into his sick bed for some rest.

    Frame 8. Higginson battles through to level at 4-4. One more to play in the session, who is going to lead overnight?

    Frame 7. Shaun made 56, but sees himself edged out of the frame as Higginson clears from the brown.

    Frame 6. Murphy constructs 54 to open a two frame buffer. Murphy is struggling this afternoon, but in his defence is clearly suffering the effects of a heavy cold. I'm not sure if there's any truth in the rumour that he's seeking sponsorhsip form Lemsip!

    Frame 5. Murphy edges ahead at 3-2. This match is already a lot closer than some pundits predicted.

    Frame 4. Higginson makes a 60 break and holds off a Murphy fightback to level at the interval.

    Frame 3. Murphy finds his potting form and fires in 123 clearance.

    Frame 2. Murphy does enough to level but this match has not not sparked into life yet.

    Frame 1. Good afternoon as we welcome Crucible debutant Andrew Higginson into the arena. He looks quite at home and has settled to his task quickly in the first frame.

    		 Notes:
    Frame 18. Murphy secures a hard-earned victory. Higginson had a chance but flufed a black on 17 and Murphy stepped in with a match-clinching 69. Murphy goes through to face Marco Fu in round two.

    Frame 17. Higginson isn't going down with a fight and a gutsy 64 keeps him in the match.

    Frame 16. Murphy looks to have broken the back of Higginson's resistance, there's a classy century from the former champion.

    Frame 15. Murphy punches in 69 and looks more comfortable at last. Higginson is beginning to miss one or two.

    Frame 14. Murphy manages to level, but it's a reall struggle for both of them now.

    Frame 13. It took Higginson a few chances but he carries a one frame lead into the final interval.

    Frame 12. Murphy clears to pink with 46 to level again.

    Frame 11. Higginson's good start continues, he's taken the lead off the back of a 66 break.

    Frame 10. Higginson clears brown to black to steal the frame on the black and he's levelled the scores.
