| Notes Frame 9. it's John Higgins who wins the last of the session so they'll come back tomorrow to complete the match. Frame 8. Higgins comes back to 4-4 with a superb 91. Now who can win the last of the afternoon to get ahead overnight? Frame 7. Higgins gets back within one frame. Again both players had good chances to win the frame. Frame 6. Holt has opened a two frame lead again. He's powered through that frame after left him amongst the balls. Frame 5. Higgins comes back with 53 to close to 3-2. Frame 4. Holt punishes Higgins to the tune of 52 after a Higgins miss and take a 3-1 interval lead. Frame 3. Michael Holt announces himself in style with a century. Frame 2. Holt was going nicely on 33 but missed an improbably thin cut on the yellow. In turn John Higgins missed an absolute sitter of a red and let Holt in to clear to the pink. Frame 1. A superb start by a smiling John Higgins who drops straight into the groove with a silky smooth 88. It might have been 139 had he not missed a black off the spot. Holt is already shaking his head and treating us to the full range of facial expressions! Good afternoon, welcome back to a blazing hot sunny Sheffield. It's almost too nice to be indoors but this match looks certain to keep us entertained and distracted from topping up our sun tans! They'll be out on the table around 14.30 to start their first session. |
Notes Frame 15. It's all over for Holt. Higgins came from 53 behind and produced a match winning clearance. Frame 14. It looks like Higgins has broken the back of this match now, a run of 68 sends him into a 9-5 lead. Frame 13. Higgins clicks up another grear, stroking in a flawless century to stretch his lead to 8-5 at the interval. Frame 12. Higgins restores his two frame cushion. A missed long red was the undoing of Holt. Frame 11. Higgins looked well set to win the frame, but Holt has stolen it on the black with a 38 clearance and what a difference that could make to his chances, only 6-5 down instead of 7-4. Frame 10. Holt got a decent lead in the frame but an error let Higgins in to clear with 43. Good afternoon, and it's another warm and sunny day here in Sheffield. Almost too nice to be indoors, but not when we've got the world's greatest players in action. |
