     Match Notes.

Frame 21. It's all over. Carter couldn't do anything to withstand the swashbuckling snooker of his Aussie opponent and Neil marches on into the quarter finals.

Frame 20. Robertson now stands on the brink of victory but he'll have to wait until after the interval. A crunching century break there has all but ended Carter's slim hopes and last year's finalist looks very dejected now.

Frame 19. Carter wins a frame he deserved to lose. Once again he missed a crucial red in the balls, but Robertson missed the green and then had missed the pink and left it on.

Frame 18. It's all happening for Robertson now. He was on 24 when he missed a red by a mile and it flew round the table and found the middle pocket, he went on to clinch the frame with a 58 break.

Frame 17. Good afternoon, welcome back to the final session of this enthralling match. Already the signs don't look good for Carter. Robertson has smashed his way through the frame. He broke down on 20 but got straight back in, scattered the reds and cleaned up.

Frame 16. The evening ends with another dramatic black ball frame. Carter made 37 before missing a red. Robertson made 27 and went in off and then Robertson potted a fantastic last red to set up the colours clearance. So the session is shared but the Aussie retains his two frame advantage.

Frame 15. A dramatic frame goes to Robertson on the black. Carter made 66, overstretched on the red that would have put the frame beyond doubt. Robertson got the snooker he needed and picked off the colours.

Frame 14. A little bit of edge creeping into this match as Carter makes 72 and gives a mock fist pump as he returns to his chair. Robertson is playing on despite they're only being 59 left on. But that's a forlorn hope and Carter takes another red to make sure.

Frame 13. Amazing. Robertson has repeated what he did in the last frame. Carter missed frame ball red on 66 and Robertson cleared with 68 and again did the fist pumping and primeval yell!

Frame 12. Robertson has pulled that frame out of the fire and let out a huge roar of delight! He was 55 down after a run of 42 by Carter but dug deep to produce a 56 clearance to win on the black

Frame 11. Carter wins his third frame on the bounce, he's having a good evening so far, and is capitalising on some errors from Robertson, to the tune of a 71 break there.

Frame 10. Carter is level but I lost count of the number of chances Robertson squandered in that frame after Carter had lost position on a break of 38.

Frame 9. Carter gets his evening off to a good start, two scoring visits and he's pulled a frame back.

Frame 8. Robertson takes a rather scrappy frame to finish the first session 5-3 ahead. The match hasn't really taken off as many people expected. But maybe most matches would appear low-key after the explosive scoring from Allen and O'Sullivan earlier.

Frame 7. It's Carter's turn to nick one, he's pinched that from the last red. One more to play this afternoon and all things being fair it should go 4-4.

Frame 6. That's the first frame that's gone really close and it went in Robertson's favour when Carter missed the green.

Frame 5. Robertson regains the lead with a cracking run of 67. At the moment neither player can get more than a frame ahead.

Frame 4. All square at the interval as Carter claims the fourth with a best effort of 48.

Frame 3. Robertson cracks in a long red and makes 79 from it.

Frame 2. Carter makes 51 and 54 to level and both players look nicely settled into the match now.

Frame 1. A blistering start by Neil Robertson who slams in 92 to win the opener. This match promises to be a feast of heavy scoring.
