• Career Best for Robbie Williams

Liverpool's Robbie Williams constructed a 144 total clearance in Round One of PIOS Event 5 at Pontin's.

Robbie Williams compiled his career best tournament break, 144, during a 4-1 win over India's Lucky Vatnani in the fifth PIOS event of the 8 tournament series.

Only a few minutes earlier Gloucester's Michael Wasley has stroked in a 142, equalling his best, but to little avail, as the stablemate of Robert Milkins, Jimmy White and Stephen Lee, went down 4-3 to Belgium's Kevin Van Hove, the 2007 European Champion.

Van Hove made break of 97 and 43 during his win. The Belgian withdrew from the previous PIOS event after the shock news that his father had been diagnosed with cancer, but he told Global Snooker today that treatment is underway, the prognosis is good and he feels more settled now.

Van Hove also came through unscathed from a car crash which occurred the day he received the news about his father. "My head was all over the place, I wasn't concentrating on the road, but I was lucky that no one was hurt."

Newly crowned IBSF World Champion, Alfie Burden, whistled in a run of 98 on his way to a 4-1 win over Paul Doody.

The Paul Hunter Scholar, Jack Lisowski, had a routine 4-0 win over Shaun Parkes.

Former professionals Stephen Craigie, Rodney Goggins, James McBain all made progress.

Craigie made a 74 in beating Neville Whalley 4-0. McBain had a best effort of 73 in a hard fought 4-2 win over another former professional, John Whitty. Rodney Goggins beat another of last season's demotees, Lewis Roberts 4-1.

China's Liu Chuang, who lost his main tour place at the end of last season, lost a deciding frame to Germany's Lasse Munstermann, despite making breaks of 64 and 68 during the match.
